Terms, without the maze.
Ultrafinance helps turn transaction descriptions into useful merchant and location information. These are the ground rules for using the website and hosted API.
Last updated: October 8, 2026
The short version: use the service considerately, send only data you are allowed to share, and check results before relying on them. Your data stays yours.
Who you are using it with
Ultrafinance is operated by Joe Hoyle. These terms apply to ultrafinance.app and its hosted API. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you are using it for an organization, you must have authority to agree on its behalf.
You can stop using the service at any time. The open-source code and third-party datasets have their own licenses; these terms do not replace them.
What to expect from a result
We match transactions against a merchant catalog and use AI for some lookups. A result can be incomplete, wrong, or unresolved. A merchant match does not prove that a payment is legitimate, and a location result does not prove where a person was.
Check results before using them for decisions that affect someone’s money or access to services. Ultrafinance does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice, and is not a substitute for your bank’s transaction records.
Your data stays yours
You keep any rights you have in the information you submit. You allow us to process it to provide the service and for the purposes described in our privacy policy. That includes saving lookup history and sending some lookups to our AI provider.
Send only information you have the right to share. If you build an app for other people, explain how their information will be handled and get any permission the law requires. Leave out account and card numbers, passwords, and unrelated personal or sensitive details.
Merchant records can carry source credits and license conditions. Please preserve required attribution when using those records. Our data sources page explains where catalog data comes from; we cannot grant rights that belong to someone else.
Use it considerately
You are welcome to explore the service and build with the API. Do not use it for unlawful activity, invade someone’s privacy, send malicious content, bypass access controls, or deliberately overwhelm the service.
We may limit or suspend access to deal with abuse, security problems, or demand that affects other users. Where practical, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to fix the problem. We may act immediately when needed to protect the service or others. If you think we got it wrong, email us.
Availability and pricing
The public service is currently free to use. There is no promised uptime or support response time. Maintenance, provider outages, or changes to the project may interrupt it.
We will give reasonable notice on the website of major changes or a planned shutdown when practical. If we introduce paid features, we will show the price and ask you to agree before charging you. Using today’s free service does not authorize future charges.
If something goes wrong
We aim to provide a useful service, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every result is accurate or suitable for your use. To the extent the law allows, we provide the service without those guarantees.
You are responsible for how you use the results. We remain responsible for our own conduct under applicable law. Nothing here removes consumer or privacy rights, excuses fraud or deliberate misconduct, or excludes responsibility the law says cannot be excluded.
Let’s try to resolve problems directly
Contact contact@ultrafinance.app with questions or a problem. We will try to work through it fairly. You do not have to use private arbitration, give up a class action, or waive access to courts or regulators under these terms. Any mandatory rights and protections under the law that applies to you still apply.
Changes to these terms
We will post updates here with a new date. Changes apply going forward, not to an earlier dispute.
If you do not agree to an update, you can stop using the service. You can still contact us about information you previously submitted.
